Dear MZI Friends,
My journey with MZI begins with my friend Randolph aka Xiao Mifeng. We knew each other from Chinese School where our kids attended at the time. One day we had lunch together and he offered to wave his hands at my frozen right shoulder. It was locked up for over a year and physical therapy and later acupuncture didn’t relieve the problem. During the first treatment, I felt a little tingly feeling when his hands passed over my shoulder and down my arm. It was subtle and I wasn’t sure if it was the wind or my imagination but my shoulder felt different that week. The next time, the weather was cold and I was wearing a long sleeve sweatshirt, still I felt the “wind” when he treated me so I knew that it was not my imagination. Over several months, my shoulder thawed out enough that I could reach over my head and behind my back. Eventually, I asked about Master Zhao and how I could learn Informatics too. I took the Introduction to Qigong Class in 2019 and started practicing regularly with my new found friends. Encouragement for each other to keep practicing and to improve has been a big part of keeping me going the past few years.
Later in that same year, my Mother had an accident and broke her back. She was in a lot of pain and could not leave the house. On one visit, I decided to try Informatics on her even though I didn’t have much training. She was amazed that after a few minutes, the pain went away with nothing more than Qi moving over her body. I told her that I was learning Qigong from Master Zhao.
In May of 2021, I participated in the MZI remote healing Pilot Program. It consisted of five sessions with an experienced practitioner under the guidance of Sharon Zhao. My Practitioner for these sessions was Suni Jin, who is one of the Team Members at MZI. I informed her about my shoulder problems but I was really impressed that she could tell that I had allergies and that I took antihistamines without me telling her. She kept asking me about another problem with my lower spine around my tail bone which was asymptomatic so I never mentioned it to her. It wasn’t until the following week that I remembered falling on my tailbone about eight years before. We shared a laugh about that because I kept insisting that nothing was wrong and she kept sensing that something was still unresolved in that area. After, a few sessions my shoulder improved a bit more, my sinuses opened, and my tailbone loosened up. Each time I could feel the Qi moving around and the results were positive. Some issues can be treated in one session and others require a series of treatments. Amazing that this could be done over the computer, especially during the Pandemic.
A few months later, I started going to the MZI Clinic as an in-person patient. The treatments on my shoulder continue as it slowly gets back to normal. In my case it’s a process of getting the muscles and tendons to relax to their normal position and stay that way. The in-person treatments are just as impressive as the remote sessions, Suni was able to scan my body and improve my condition. This time I had some digestive issues that she was able to get moving, and remove the waste Qi. Each visit is a little different as my condition changes but the overall result is positive. I look forward to a tune-up each month and I recommend that everyone give it a try for several sessions.
I’m very grateful to Master Zhao for teaching me the basics of Informatics Qigong. It helped me in a number of ways beyond just my shoulder and my Mother. My over all health has improved including my ability to focus on my work. I’m looking forward to learning more as the pandemic eases and we return to normal life.
Happy Qi,
Larry Young
